This expansive site lacked interest, particularly in the centre of the wide lawn space which is overlooked from the balcony of the master bedroom.
The scheme provides a gentle intervention of planted borders laid out around a frame of clipped yew pyramids and balls set to a golden spiral.
Flowing swathes of ornamental grasses in three large beds create waves of texture and form interspersed with the evergreen topiary that diminish in size towards the centre. Spring bulbs including Narcissus and Alliums are mass planted amongst the grasses.
The planting layout is gently meditative while also providing a satisfying sculptural impact when viewed from the master bedroom balcony.
A new raised pond was added to the re-configured dining terrace area with an overflowing stainless steel Lulworth saucer set on the water surface.
